Hatchet Caye Resort Belize

4 or 6 Nights for Two with Daily Meals, Snorkeling, and Flight and Boat Transfers. Combine Up to 12 Nights.

Private Island Resort with Cabanas

You won’t find any towering high-rises, chain restaurants, or crowded beaches on the tiny isle of Hatchet Caye, located 18 miles off the coast of Belize. That’s because the only development on the kidney-bean-shaped island is Hatchet Caye Resort. A limited number of guests are permitted to stay in the resort’s handful of cabanas at any one time, ensuring that you’ll have stretches of secluded shoreline to explore while you’re there. These breezy-and-modern duplex cabanas are equipped with wicker and wooden furniture and massive windows looking out on palm trees and the sea.

Thanks to its location along the Mesoamerican reef—the world’s second-longest reef—Hatchet Caye boasts world-class snorkeling and scuba-diving opportunities. It’s worth borrowing some gear to embark on a nighttime snorkeling adventure. The pier is well lit, attracting fish, rays, squid, and turtles. During the day, you can take a dip in the resort’s freshwater pool or play a game of volleyball on the grass court. You can also rent paddleboats, Hobie Cats, and kayaks for free.

The plan grants you access to the Lionfish Grill for breakfast, lunch, and dinner served in an open-air pavilion. Dig into island fare, including coconut shrimp, Caribbean spiny lobster, lionfish tacos, and empanadas. Bartenders serve juices, soft drinks, cocktails, beers, and wine (not included with this Groupon).

Hatchet Caye, Belize: World-Class Snorkeling amid Turtles, Stingrays, and Nurse Sharks

A 10-minute boat ride from Hatchet Caye Resort brings you to the Turtle Spot—so named because of the loggerhead turtles that frequently congregate here (stingrays and nurse sharks have been known to drop by, too). Historically, marine life flocked to this site to feed on leftovers from local fishermen who would clean their catches in the area. Today, many sea creatures still mosey over when they hear a boat. One snorkel tour per person is included with your stay.
